China (Yuyao) Waxberry Festival, organized by Yuyao Municipal People’s Government, is held once a year in the middle of June in Yuyao, during which local waxberry villages and towns would present their unique waxberry tourism itineraries. The Festival usually lasts for over half a month.
Yuyao, renowned for being the “Home of Waxberry in China” and the origin of “Yuyao Waxberry”, boasts a land of 82,000 mou for production of around 25,000 tons of waxberries annually, ranking No. 1 in China. Praises for the waxberry can be found early in a poetry of the Song Dynasty, saying that the waxberry is sweeter than the grape and darker in color than litchi. The waxberry in Yuyao has been ranking No. 1 throughout the world for its large size, beautiful color, abundant juice and good taste. Every June, Yuyao would receive tourists, coming to plunk waxberries, have a taste of the fresh waxberries and experience the beautiful landscape and local custom of the Siming Mountain.
