The special conference on the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage in the city was held

The newly revised Cultural Relics Protection Law of the People's Republic of China will come into effect on March 1st. Yesterday morning, our city held a special meeting on the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage, reporting on the establishment of the city's cultural heritage inheritance mechanism, and making specific arrangements for the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage, the protection of the Grand Canal, and the Fourth National Cultural Relics Census. Yang Xiaowei, Director of the Ningbo World Cultural Heritage Monitoring Center, gave a keynote lecture on the protection, inheritance, and utilization of the Ningbo Grand Canal World Cultural Heritage.

Cultural heritage carries the genes and bloodline of the Chinese nation, and is an irreplaceable and irreplaceable excellent civilization resource. It is of great responsibility and glorious mission to do a good job in the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage. At present, our city has 1 world cultural heritage site, 8 national cultural heritage units, 1 Chinese historical and cultural village, and 2 national intangible cultural heritage projects. The meeting requires that efforts should be made in various aspects such as ideology, management, and construction to establish and improve the cultural heritage protection and inheritance system, comprehensively promote inter departmental and inter town coordination in the protection, inheritance, and utilization of cultural heritage, and implement the requirements of "archaeological pre construction and protection first" in accordance with laws and regulations; At the same time, actively guide social forces to participate in the protection, inheritance, and utilization of cultural heritage, and create a good atmosphere for the whole society to participate in the protection, inheritance, and utilization of cultural heritage by integrating various resources such as social organizations, volunteer service teams, and enthusiastic residents.

At the meeting, 10 civilian river chiefs including Zhou Lingling, Zhang Donghui, Wang Chen, Lu Tao, Chen Qunli, Fu Shaojun, Yuan Gehui, Chen Bo, Yang Qun, and Ying Chunlong were hired as "volunteers to guard the canal". They will lead and inspire citizens, especially residents of towns (streets) along the Yuyao section of the Zhejiang East Canal, firmly establish a sense of ownership, actively carry out river patrol and protection activities, and strive to be guardians of the canal heritage, disseminators of canal culture, and protectors of canal ecology.

Guarding the Grand Canal is not only about protecting a river, but also about protecting our memories, our homes, and our future. "Lu Tao from Yangming Street read out the" Together Guarding Along the Canal "initiative, calling on everyone to protect the millennium charm and build the dream of the Grand Canal together, and to use practical actions to make the water of the Zhejiang East Grand Canal clearer, the river smoother, the banks greener, the scenery more beautiful, and the industry more prosperous.

Before the meeting, the attendees visited the photography exhibition "Yaojiang Poetry and Shadow of Zhejiang East Canal". The exhibition takes the hundred mile Zhejiang East Canal as its axis and the millennium cultural heritage as its thread. It is divided into chapters such as "Canal Poetry," "Canal Ancient Ferry," "Canal Relics," "Canal Ecology," "Canal Governance," "Canal Vision," "Canal Settlements," "Canal Culture," and "Canal Homes." It vividly showcases the ecological landscape corridor of the Yuyao section of the Zhejiang East Canal and the prosperous urban and rural areas on both sides of the canal, as well as the happy scenes of people living and working in peace and contentment.
